The webinar, the fifth in a series of eight webinars covering the INSPIRE strategies, will present the strategy “parent and caregiver support” in more depth and will include reflections on how they can be adapted for implementation in the time of COVID-19.

On 2 March 2021 from 14h30-16h00 (CET) the fifth webinar will cover:

• Overview of the strategy and brief overview of findings from the Global status report on preventing violence against children 2020
• Parenting support programmes and scale-up in times of COVID-19
• Skilful parenting and economic strengthening
• Research on the needs of families during conflict and displacement
• Q&A sessions with the experts
• Confirmed speakers for the webinar include Dr Wadih Maalouf (UNODC), Dr Jamie M. Lachman (University of Oxford), Beatrice Ogutu (Investing in Children and their Societies) and Dr Aala El-Khani (UNODC).

These modules are aimed at practitioners from different sectors – notably social welfare, justice, telecommunications, education, health and planning – committed to addressing violence against children. The aim is to further mobilize BICE Members and other relevant partners on issues of violence against children, foster engagement in INSPIRE programs and provide technical skills related to implementing the approaches to INSPIRE Strategy areas. Participants will be encouraged to make links between these intervention areas and engage throughout the webinars.
