World Childhood Foundation

World Childhood Foundation works to end sexual abuse, exploitation and violence against children. Founded by her Majesty, Queen Silvia of Sweden in 1999, our mission is to Inspire, promote and develop solutions to end sexual abuse, exploitation and violence against children. We focus our work on three thematic areas – Child Supportive Environments and Relationships, Child Safety Online and Child Focused Response to Abuse. The themes are chosen based on where we see that children are particularly vulnerable, where the needs for our work are greatest and where we as an organization have the greatest experience and knowledge and thus can make the most difference.

As an independent, private foundation, Childhood has the possibility to test untried ideas, stimulate unexpected collaborations and invest in solutions and change actors that we believe in, but which are not yet established. With knowledge, funding and networks, we give strength to ideas and innovation that protect children. The ambition is to contribute to long-term system change and, at the same time, improve life here and now for the individual child. Childhood has offices in Sweden, Germany, Brazil and United States. We also fund programs in Belarus, Cambodia, Moldova, Nepal, the Philippines, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Ukraine. Childhood is a member of Elevate Children Funders Group, Investors Forum and the European Parliament Intergroup on Children’s Rights.
