Halley Movement Coalition

Halley Movement is a non-governmental organization working in Mauritius & Africa-Indian Ocean Islands, for the protection of children and families. Halley Movement was created in 1989 and is managed by an executive committee of seven members. This registered NGO regroups representatives of various sectors of the economy and comprises representatives of various regions. Halley Movement enjoys the United Nations ECOSOC Consultative Status. It also has the consultative status at African Committee of Experts on the Rights & Welfare of the Child (ACERWC). Halley Movement is the elected representative at the African Union ECOSOCC.

Halley Movement Coalition, which includes Internet Child Safety Foundation (ICSF), Mauritius & IOS Internet Governance Forum (Mauritius IGF), Helpline Mauritius, Defence for Children-Mauritius (DCI-Mauritius), ECPAT-Mauritius, GCAP-Mauritius, among others is heading these subsidiary organisations and the mission is still the protection and promotion of the welfare of children, women and families in Mauritius and in the Sub-African continent through research, advocacy, capacity building and design of community-based activities. Helpline Mauritius, the only free online counselling service is also supported on a pro-bono basis by Busgopaul Chambers.
