ChildFund Mozambique

ChildFund International is a child-focused organization, whose mission is to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children, improve their lives and have the opportunity to become young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change to their communities. ChildFund International believes that community-based organizations are the progressive force that when mobilized and collaborating with schools, training centers, health services, government, and other like-minded organizations, together with the support of sponsors and donors, can achieve a community’s vision for the well-being of children. ChildFund has been operating in Mozambique since 2005 implementing programs on early childhood development, education, economic strengthening, emergency response, health and nutrition.

ChildFund Mozambique focuses on responsive parents and caregivers and resilient households for children, ages 0 – 5 to enhance parents’ knowledge and skills around health, nutrition, child development and cognitive stimulation including inclusive care while also supporting parents with economic empowerment activities to help sustain their children and families.

Programming for children, ages 6-14

ChildFund focuses on strengthening safe learning environments at homes, communities and schools by embracing positive discipline techniques that teachers can use, and the promotion of a culture of Zero tolerance for any form of violence against children.

Programming for adolescents and youth, ages 15 to 24

ChildFund focuses on supporting them to acquire vocational and technical skills that will help to address some of the employability issues highly experienced in this age group. This is achieved by establishment of strategic partnerships with government and private sector.

Within the above mentioned program priorities, ChildFund Mozambique works on strengthening the protection of children from abuse in homes, communities and school by not only increasing awareness and changes in behavior of members around protection of children, but also strengthening referral mechanism and the informal structures that exist at community level to reduce cases of abuse and violence against children.
