Action Initiative for Development (AID)

Action Initiative for Development [AID] is the society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1960, established in 2005. AID is committed towards upliftment and empowerment of the most excluded sections of the society like Dalits. RTE (Right To Education Act)activism, Child Rights Education, responding to the violence and atrocities against the deprived communities, enabling the children of the community to get into Government’s boarding schools, linking families and children to the Government Social Welfare schemes are some of the work being continuously implemented by the organisation. During past years, AID has Supported 175 children for 2 years providing supplementary education, food and accommodation through the support of Department of Education, Karnataka. AID Identified 250 street children through a survey with the help of Department of Women and Child Development, and as a result Government started a Shelter home for rehabilitation of street children. AID Supported 17 children to get admission into elite private schools for free education through RTE act.Supported 35 girl children to continue education through scholarships with the help of Global Giving, USA.They had conducted different awareness campaigns and programmes on child rights, POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) awareness through Child Right Commission, Karnataka. Currently the organisation is working in 10 villages of Davanagere District with more than 400 children and 100 youth members in order to address the issue of early school leaving and also towards empowerment of youth.
